Dental implant surgery for tooth loss, could be a good option for the replacement for a lost tooth or tooth extraction.
dental implants
Modern dental technology has come a long way in oral health. You no longer have limited options when you lose a tooth! Dental implants are considered by many to be the best way for tooth replacement. Dental implants don’t require reducing other teeth, as a tooth-supported bridge does. Because nearby teeth are not altered to support the implant, more of your own teeth are left intact, improving long-term oral health. Plus, individual implants also allow easier access between teeth, improving oral hygiene.
Following osseointegration, the implant is exposed and the gum (gingiva) is shaped with the aid of a gingiva former. After 10-14 days, an impression can be taken, which acts as a basis for the dental technician to make your prosthesis.
Prosthetic Restoration
When your prosthesis is ready, it is fitted into your own dentition by securing it to the implant or implants. Depending on the type of fixed restoration, it can be screwed or cemented in place. In the case of removable solutions, your dentist will screw the abutments that will anchor your prosthesis to the implant and then fit the prosthesis.
Yes, if you need replacement teeth, it should be well worth your while to consult with a local San Diego cosmetic dentist, to see if restoring your teeth with dental implants are right for you.
Keep in mind, that the field of dentistry is broken up into a lot of dental specialties. Not all dentist are, or could be specialist in each one of the sub dental procedures. personally, if I was considering a dental implant, I would look for a local dental implant specialist versus a general dentist.
Implant dental procedures are complex, and so, you should seek out a local San Diego dental practice that specializes in implant dentistry. after all, everyone wants a successful outcome in dental surgery, but also you should stack the deck in your favor to ensure that not only the dental surgery goes well, but, you achieve the best possible smile makeover.
Because the dental implant procedure is complex, your selection of a local San Diego dentist should not be rushed, nor should it be based solely on the dental implant cost. it’s very important that your dental implant procedure is done correctly, and so a consultation with a San Diego restorative dentistshould be your first step in getting the teeth you need to restore your smile and improve your dental health.
Dental Implant considerations:
A San Diego restorative dentist usually considers the jaw bone structure, x-rays,possible bone loss, the need for bone grafting, bone augmentation, gun disease, periodontal disease, anesthesia, CT scans and naturally the overall bone structure.
A removable implant supported denture (also an implant supported overdenture is a type of dental prosthesis which is not permanently fixed in place. The dental prosthesis can be disconnected from the implant abutments with finger pressure by the wearer. To enable this, the abutment is shaped as a small connector (a button, ball, bar or magnet) which can be connected to analogous adapters in the underside of the dental prosthesis. Facial prosthetics, used to correct facial deformities (e.g. from cancer treatment or injuries) can utilise connections to implants placed in the facial bones.[8] Depending on the situation the implant may be used to retain either a fixed or removable prosthetic that replaces part of the face.
In orthodontics, small diameter dental implants, referred to as Temporary Anchorage Devices (or TADs) can assist tooth movement by creating anchor points from which forces can be generated. For teeth to move, a force must be applied to them in the direction of the desired movement. The force stimulates cells in the periodontal ligament to cause bone remodeling, removing bone in the direction of travel of the tooth and adding it to the space created. In order to generate a force on a tooth, an anchor point (something that will not move) is needed. Since implants do not have a periodontal ligament, and bone remodelling will not be stimulated when tension is applied, they are ideal anchor points in orthodontics. Typically, implants designed for orthodontic movement are small and do not fully osseointegrate, allowing easy removal following treatment.
We all want to look our best and that’s the main reason professional teeth whitening is as popular as it is today when you meet somebody your smile is really their first impression of you. So, a nice bright white smile is definitely something to strive for.
But, from some fruit juices to coffee to smoking there are many things in our lives that over time and to stain and or darken our teeth. Now there are whitening toothpaste on the market there is even whitening do-it-yourself kits that claim to brighten your smile by a few shades.
Personally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using a major brand whitening toothpaste. But if that’s not correcting your problem, I would stay away from any do-it-yourself methods that may actually do more harm than good.
Your teeth do not regenerate or produce more porcelain over time. So, you really have to practice good dental hygiene and protect your original teeth. This is my reasoning for not going with any do-it-yourself type teeth whitening kits. Plus, As we age, our adult teeth often become darker due to changes in the mineral structure of the tooth, as the enamel becomes less porous.
There are many San Diego dentists that would give you a free consultation to have professional teeth whitening performed. Yes, having a licensed California dentist do the teeth whitening procedure (commonly termed “scale and polish”) is your safest path to improve your smile.
In conclusion, I like to say again, if you’re considering teeth whitening, start by selecting a major toothpaste manufacturers whitening product. If, over the timeframe that the manufacturers suggest the toothpaste needs to work, you’re whitening has an improved or as an improved to your satisfaction, that might be the time to seek a San Diego California dental professionals opinion of whether or not professional teeth whitening will bring about your desired result.

Moms Take Care Of Your Baby’s Mouth Right From The Start. Dental health is extremely important especially for mothers with babies. Tooth decay is an infection. Sharing food, spoons and pacifiers with your baby can transfer bacteria (germs) that cause tooth decay. Germs and sugary food left in a baby’s mouth can eat holes in the teeth called cavities.
* Sugar is in many food and beverages including soda, juice, sweet tea, baby food, formula and breast milk. You pass germs on to your baby when you share food, forks, spoons, straws or toothbrushes. Licking a pacifier covers it with germs, also!
* Clean your baby’s gums and any teeth after feeding and at bedtime. Use a clean, damp washcloth or child’s soft toothbrush. This will wipe away food and even germs. Do this even if you can’t see the teeth yet.
* Avoid passing germs to your baby’s mouth. Don’t put food, forks, spoons, straws, toothbrushes or pacifiers in your mouth before giving it to your baby. Ask grandparents or daycare providers not to share germs, too.
* Visit the dentist to get your teeth cleaned and any tooth decay treated. This will cut down on the germs in your mouth, leaving fewer germs to pass on to your baby.
* Healthy teeth for a healthy body.
